Another award for
Lifelights
KTL’s Lifelights, X2-E emergency luminaire, won the prestigious commendation award at the Illuminating Engineers Society’s (IES) annual awards dinner.
Aimed at recognising originality and ingenuity through design, products that win such an award must possess a high level of technical and aesthetic excellence.
The X2-E is a new generation LED powered unit, has a D32 rating and with NiMH batteries and solid state electronics throughout, the X2-E is a world leader in its category.
The X2-E is part of the X2 series of emergency lights and signs available in self-test or DALI monitored options.
KTL Technologies manufactures the X2 series of lights at its NZIA award winning premises in Plimmerton, north of Wellington.

ECO Experience:
Every day new products appear that have principles of the holy grail of “sustainability”. KTL are involved in energy projects ranging from solar (PV) through to wind and micro-hydro. We have built and commissioned such systems for clients. While this is not our core business, please
contact us to discuss your needs including dealings with SEANZ, local authorities and electricity suppliers.
The Lifelights brand:
KTL’s Lifelights brand grew from an ambition to design lighting products to set new standards for performance, energy and ‘cradle to grave’ materials efficiency.
Our focus remains with the sensible use of 21st century lighting – in the short term the principle of slowly incinerating a piece of tungsten wire will be overtaken by solid-state LED based radiators. We believe that these will soon surpass the compact fluorescents. These are already far more efficient than CFL units and will become increasingly so.

**The Taupo swamp survives because in the late part of the nineteenth and the early twentieth century it was important for the supply of flax fibre for the manufacture of rope and woven wool sacks. When these products were replaced with cheaper synthetics the swamp ceased to have economic value. Fortunately it wasn’t drained to provide land for farming or housing and it remained neglected until its unique ecological values were recognised. Now, as the day settles, the song of the frogs inhabiting Taupo Swamp remind the thoughtful listener of the value of preserving these small corners of the world – and of the value in working with and alongside the natural environment.
